Iron Butterfly/Canned Heat Concert Fundraiser Little Heroes is very fortunate to have teamed up with such a wonderful and giving family. After watching Comcast's "Oscar Evening" recap, Lydia and Dave Schmidt put their heads together to come up with an idea that could help our cause. Dave and Lydia, aware of weekly concerts that are hosted at Galt Airport by Michael Stanard (galtfestivals.com), organized to have Little Heroes as the beneficiary of a charity raffle at the Iron Butterfly/Canned Heat concert held on July 21 and Vince Neil/Slaughter concert held on August 3. As owners of guitaradoptions.com in Wonderlake, IL, the Schmidt family has donated several thousands of dollars worth of autographed guitars signed by these bands. Besides organizing the events, Dave and Lydia along with their two children (Nick and Elizabeth) volunteered their time at the raffle booth ensuring the success of the events. Between bands, the raffle benefiting pediatric cancer research was promoted on stage. People were literally standing in huge lines waiting patiently to purchase a chance to win these fantastic prizes and help our cause. It was a pleasure working along side the entire Schmidt family, as it is evident that they truly understand the concept and the importance of charity. Both concert events brought in a total of $4,383 in about seven hours. A big thank you goes out to the Schmidt and Stanard families; we are grateful for your help and proud to call you friends.
